Inaugural Bike Tour Across South Dakota!
Published on February 27, 2013Email To Friend    Print Version

Be part of the inaugural ride across South Dakota! The tour starts near “the Faces” of Mount Rushmore on June 9, and ends at “the Falls” of Sioux Falls on June 14.

Sunday morning the ride begins in Hill City, and descends, twists, and weaves 57 miles into Hot Springs for the first overnight stay. Let the party begin!

On Monday, June 10, riders will saddle up and head east - 109 miles, east - to Martin. No matter what you have or haven’t heard about Martin, it is a safe to say it will be one of your favorite overnight towns ever (after riding 109 miles)!  A confidential “head start” option will also be offered for riders seeking a shortened route.

Tuesday, June 11, riders will take off east again for another challenging day of 102 miles to Winner. Winner is rumored to have both a McDonald’s and a Holiday Inn Express.  This day also provides the “head start” option.

On Wednesday, June 12, riders will find their groove. The amiable 83 miles to Pickstown lead to the scenic Missouri river.  The State Park and Pickstown will offer plenty of food and fun!

Thursday, June 13, riders trek to predictably hospitable Freeman, 77 miles away. If Freeman is anything like it has been on previous bike tours, it will be perfect - an absolute model community.

On Friday, June 14, all riders will scramble 60 miles for “the Falls” (Falls Park), in Sioux Falls for the post-ride party. This gathering will give the riders a chance to both relish in the adventure and plan next year’s Faces to the Falls route.
